Renovation of the Aramil Cloth Factory

The subject of revitalization is a part of the industrial-architectural complex - a three-storey building with a basement with a total area of 7500 sq.m. and a part of the land plot of the Aramil cloth factory with a total area of about 3500 sq.m., which is in private ownership. Also, the land plot adjacent to the factory, totaling 7576 sq.m., which is in municipal ownership, requires an aesthetic “reset”.

Renovation of this territory has good potential and resources for the creation of a creative cluster in a small town, as it will provide conditions for labor, lifestyle, forms of communication and environment for creative youth (trendsetters) - a particularly valuable human resource.

Favorable components for the project implementation:

• convenient location within the city limits, step-by-step and transportation accessibility;
• possibility to arrange parking lots;
• an object with the “power of place” and historical heritage;
• object with a high degree of preservation, availability of its own infrastructure.

• To ensure preservation of the object of industrial and historical heritage of the small town in the conditions of the emerging agglomeration through partial refunctionalization of the property complex of the Aramil cloth factory;
• To form a legal and economic model for the development of the territory of the Aramil cloth factory;
• To create conditions under which the territory of the factory cannot be used for realization of point investment projects, first of all, in the field of capital construction or commercial (economic) activity;
• Ensure environmental rehabilitation of the Factory neighborhood;
• Ensure adaptation of the old industrial territory to the socio-economic and socio-cultural space of the city;
• To form a portfolio of tools for effective (intellectual, innovative, dynamic) utilization of the territory and building of the factory, and objects in its immediate vicinity;
• To form the basis for using the object (Aramil cloth factory) as a creative cluster of a satellite city of the megalopolis.

The project “Renovation of the Aramil cloth factory” consists of several independent projects, united in a single space on the principle of “city in the city” with a full-fledged infrastructure for work, life and recreation, including:

• multifunctional cultural and innovation center “Factory of Ideas” (working name KIC “Factory of Ideas”), is created as a “third place” to attract the city's creative community and talented youth to its territory, providing an environment and conditions for the birth of business ideas in them, as well as the production, promotion and sale of their product (business incubator, lectures, co-working, cafes, meeting rooms, recreational areas, etc.);
• in the premises of the KIC “Factory of Ideas” there are conditions for accommodation of the municipal “Museum of Aramil History”, “Overcoat Museum”, unique and unique in the world, formation of space for cultural and entertainment events (biennales, galleries, concerts and theatrical performances in loft style, art galleries, photo zones, etc.);
• in the premises of KIC “Factory of Ideas” conditions are created to accommodate the city Center for Entrepreneurship Support, development and promotion of entrepreneurial activity in the creative industry (craft workshops, trade lots, offices, studios), as well as the organization of space for educational activities through conferences, lectures, business meetings, seminars, event space through the creation of transformable space.
