Ural Developer of Animal Hair Loss Treatment Becomes Skolkovo Resident

A Ural-based manufacturer of animal cosmetics has developed a product to stimulate hair growth in dogs diagnosed with Alopecia X. With support fr om the Investment Promotion Agency, the company "Groom" has become a resident of the Skolkovo Innovation Center.

The "Anagen V" project is the result of years of collaborative work by Ural groomers, veterinarians, dermatologists, and scientists from the Faculty of Bioengineering and Veterinary Medicine at Don State Technical University.

"The project's authors are forming a systematic approach to solving animal health problems. Currently, with the 'Anagen Alopecia X' project, 'Groom' has obtained the status of an innovative company. The status of a Skolkovo resident opens access to scientific and expert infrastructure, state support measures, and opportunities for further research. The development of domestic veterinary cosmetics and local production contributes to strengthening the country's import independence, including in the pet products market," said Dmitry Ionin, Deputy Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region.

For six months, the product underwent practical testing under the supervision of specialists. According to pilot study data, animals participating in the hair growth initiation program showed more than 70% coat regrowth. Currently, the studies have been completed, protocols have been filled out, and the patenting process is underway.

It is worth recalling that the investment project of the enterprise "Groom" is supported by the Sverdlovsk Region Investment Promotion Agency. In 2023, the company became a resident of the Sverdlovsk Region High Technology Technopark "Universitetsky," wh ere the first pilot production facility for cosmetics for dogs and cats was opened.

Currently, the company is moving to a larger premises within the technopark, and its products are being exported to Saudi Arabia and from there to other countries.

The idea of developing its own line of pet care products emerged in 2020, when the first disruptions occurred in the supply of grooming cosmetics from abroad.

Supporting innovative companies aligns with the objectives of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy."
