Largest Commercial Data Processing Center in the Ural Federal District Opens in the Sverdlovsk Region

On June 30, Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Denis Pasler launched the operation of the largest data processing center (DPC) in the Ural Federal District, which will provide the region with additional capacities for the development of the digital economy.

"Today, the Sverdlovsk Region already ranks third in Russia in terms of digitalization level. The process continues across various sectors of the economy, so the region needs new data processing capacities. Today, at the Craft industrial park, the Data Processing Center of the Key Point group of companies opened. The high-tech facility enables uninterrupted and secure work with big data. The capacity of the first phase is 440 IT racks, and the total capacity of the Center will be 880 IT racks with an average power of 7 kW. In addition to such large-scale facilities, the Middle Urals also produce modular data centers for servicing critical IT infrastructure," wrote Denis Pasler on his social media page.

The data processing center has been commissioned and is now accepting customer equipment. The facility has successfully passed Uptime Institute certification and has confirmed compliance with the Tier III fault tolerance level. The general designer and general contractor was the company "Free Technologies Engineering."

The design capacity of the data processing center is 11 MW. Uninterrupted operation is ensured by ten diesel generator sets with the capability of autonomous operation for up to 72 hours. The engineering infrastructure includes six telecommunications operators, three separate fiber-optic communication line entry points, and four traffic exchange points.

"Businesses in the regions are facing a shortage of high-quality and uninterrupted IT infrastructure. We have completed all construction stages and are already actively hosting Ural companies to launch their digital projects in the region's largest certified data center. As we expand our federal network of data processing centers, we are pleased to contribute to the development of infrastructure that ensures the country's technological security," noted Evgeny Vircer, founder of Key Point Group and General Director of "Free Technologies Engineering."

As Governor Denis Pasler noted, amendments have been made to regional legislation to develop the data center network in the Sverdlovsk Region. Investors can obtain land plots for the construction of data centers without auctions, provided the project is implemented with an investment of at least one billion rubles. The volume of private investment in the construction of the largest data processing center in the Ural Federal District has exceeded four billion rubles. The new facility will provide businesses with modern capacities for data storage and processing.

The development of the commercial data processing center network contributes to the goals of the national project "Data Economy" and creates conditions for the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies, cloud services, and digital solutions in industry and the public sector of the region's economy.
