Sverdlovsk Region Defines Promising Development Directions for Priority Sectors at SPIEF – Chemistry, Microelectronics, IT, Tourism

On the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Sverdlovsk Region is identifying promising areas of cooperation for the development of priority sectors in the region – chemistry, microelectronics, IT, and tourism. This was announced by Governor Denis Pasler while summing up the results of the regional delegation's work at SPIEF.

"At the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin outlined the main trends in the global economy and noted the achievements of Russia and the BRICS countries. As the head of state noted, new opportunities came to our country along with sanctions. We are developing our own competencies and filling the niches formed after the departure of foreign companies, gradually mastering completely new directions and strengthening three key technologies: artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and platform solutions. The directions that are being actively mastered and developed in the Sverdlovsk Region fully correspond to this task," Denis Pasler noted on his social networks.

The regional delegation was tasked with studying current trends, tendencies, and technologies, as well as establishing business contacts for their integration in the Middle Urals. In particular, cooperation agreements were signed with the Presidential Library, the Republic of Khakassia, and the Yandex company; negotiations were held with SIBUR on the development of petrochemical projects and with the Irbis company, which has expertise in the development of roadside services.

"Having our own technological base is a fundamentally important matter for our country, its independence, and sovereignty. And all our efforts will be directed toward becoming a technological leader country, rather than turning into a digital periphery," Denis Pasler summarized.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held from June 3 to 6. The event was attended by delegations from more than 100 countries, and over 150 sessions were held. The main theme this year is "Pragmatic Dialogue – The Path to a Stable Future."
