Sverdlovsk Region will become a venue for international esports competitions.

"'Mayak Arena' will become the third largest in the country by area and will be able to host major Russian and international competitions," Pasler wrote on his social media. "Within the next two months, the Middle Urals will gain a professional venue for esports. We are finishing the construction of 'Mayak Arena' in Yekaterinburg. This will be the first facility of such scale outside Moscow and St. Petersburg. Approximately 130 computers, bootcamp zones for team training, VR zones, and a streaming studio—all this will allow for both training esports athletes and hosting tournaments of various scales. <...> The first all-Russian esports competition will be held at the new arena this autumn as part of the 'Future Forum' congress. Subsequently, we will host international competitions for athletes from BRICS countries. Yekaterinburg is the future capital of esports in the Urals!"
The arena will cover 3,000 square meters. It can simultaneously accommodate up to 200 athletes training. During competitions, an additional 200 spectators can join them—the arena's full capacity—plus hundreds of online viewers.
The construction progress of "Mayak Arena" was inspected by Tatiana Savinova, Deputy Governor and Minister of Healthcare of Sverdlovsk Region.
"Esports is no longer just about computer games. It is a modern platform for development, education, digital skills formation, and teamwork. This field has great prospects, including for people with disabilities; esports can become part of their professional growth and rehabilitation. Undoubtedly, we need to develop this direction, and the emergence of one of the country's largest centers here in the Urals will provide a strong impetus for the further growth of the entire industry," said Tatiana Savinova.
According to Grigory Gordienko, Director of "Mayak Arena" and a professional esports athlete, all utility lines have been installed and the interior finishing of the building has been completed. Equipment will be delivered and connected in the near future, along with the completion of interior design and installation of interior lighting.
On the sidelines of the INNOPROM-2025 International Industrial Exhibition, an agreement was signed between the investor and the Sverdlovsk Region Investment Promotion Agency to support the "Mayak Arena" creation project. The investment volume is estimated at 875 million rubles, and about 100 new jobs will be created.
"Sverdlovsk Region will shortly become the leading esports platform in the Urals, and our agreement with the initiators of the 'Mayak Arena' project allows us to provide maximum support for the project's development, including selecting appropriate support measures," noted Yuri Patanin, General Director of the Sverdlovsk Region Investment Promotion Agency.
It is worth noting that last year, the total number of people engaged in computer sports in Sverdlovsk Region reached about 1,000. There are 12 school and 10 student esports clubs operating in educational institutions. In May of this year, the team from Ural Federal University won the bronze medal in the final of the All-Russian Esports Student League organized by Sber.
